Mother's Day

Mother's Day was GREAT...Aaron made a weekend out of it and on saturday, he took me to Best Buy to get my mother's Day gift... It wasn't exactly the typical "mother's day" kinda gift, but it was something we kinda needed because the one we had in our room broke recently... no need to say what it was because it may not be that exciting to others (it was to me)

The real Mother's Day treat began sunday morning ... at around 5:30AM, I heard Aaron walking around in the house (he is an early riser, ALWAYS) and I could hear he was trying to get the boys out of bed too... I was too tired so I kept sleeping but I heard them trying to get ready and out the door...I finally got out of bed at around 6:30AM and took a shower and just as I got ready, I heard the boys run into my room with bouquets of flowers... (the tulips and roses in the picture)! Aaron had gone to the store and bought some flowers for me for Mother's Day. He also stopped by Starbucks and got me a latte and some treats for all of us to share! He is such a sweetie and always knows what I like! As we were sitting at the dining room table, enjoying the coffee and treats, Aaron looked at the bouquet and said... "Oh, Look, there's a red thread on this stem... God is reminding you about our connection to our daughter in China".... For those who don't know, Aaron is not really "into" all the Chinese adoption stuff like ladybugs, red threads, etc... so for HIM to say that really meant something and for there to be a random RED THREAD on a bouquet of flowers.... God always knows how to bring some sort of encouragement to me especially when I need it! I had been feeling kinda down lately with adoption and it seems that whenever I tell him about that and give it up to Him, He brings me little reminders of His love for me and a boost to keep me going!

We went to church after breakfast... we had to volunteer in Kids' Church today but when we got home, Aaron told me to just go relax in our room while he made lunch for us... he ended up having the kids sign cards for Mother's Day and some other little gifts! I even got a afternoon nap, a nice walk and bike ride together as a family and an outing at a hotdog place that one of our friends in town owns. I have to constantly stop myself and see the blessing God has given me. I feel like the most blessed mom in the world!

Now, was that red thread there by accident?? Wow! And, I love the flowers. Tulips are my favorites! Your hubby deserves big points!

Angie, Aaron is so thoughtful. Your are one lucky mommy little ladybug girlfriend. Seems like he really went out of his way to make you have a special day. I hope you won't need a red thread next mothers day.

Portland Marathon 2013 (My First ever Marathon Recap)

I wanted to capture my moment by moment FIRST marathon experience so here goes: I'll start with the night before: We went over to Aaron's parents house to have some dinner with them as well as Micah & Danielle (Aaron's brother and wife) and their kids, Gabriel and Grace, and Mathew and Taylor (cousins of our kids).   We got back to our hotel (Hilton downtown) around 7:15pm and I organized my outfit for the big day while Aaron took the kids swimming at the pool.  I agonized back and forth about whether to carry my Nathan hydration vest or not for a week and Aaron finally helped me make the decision that although the aid stations were going to be plenty, I should go ahead and carry my own water.... because he knows that  1) I don't like stopping to get water even if it's a moment because I feel like I lose momentum 2) I am really BAD at drinking from the cups and have gotten multiple water sloshes up my nose (which hurts!) and water on my shoes (which, is BA...

I am OVER DUE :(

Happy 9 months since LID! I was in a very goofy mood and BEGGED my DH to take this picture of me.... Had I been expecting a tummy baby, I'd be officially OVER DUE. I think I have WAY too much time on my hands :) Gotta go tuck my kids in bed now.

Much has happened...

It's been exactly one week since we were given our bad news about not being able to adopt the girls from Indonesia. God has really comforted us alot during the past week... I still have a hard time not crying when someone asks me when we can go get the girls.... In my excitement, I showed so many people at church and friends the pictures of the girls because in my heart, I really felt these girls were ours. But, God is not done writing our story ~ I know that this will have a Godly outcome and we will move forward. We have had lots of support and encouragement ~ most people we know well have expressed their sadness over this. I returned the bedding I bought for the girls at the store and when I did, I was sorta in a sad mood.... the person handling the returns said "Are these not going to work out?" to which, I replied "No, it's not" and then she felt like she had to push the issue with me and said "Is there anything wrong with it?" By then, I...
